Crockpot Italian Pizza Balls

Italian Pizza Balls

As we head into the fall and October, its hard to think that the holiday's are just around the corner but, yeah, Christmas is less than 87 days away. When I think of the appetizers you are served at parties, I think of high fat or high sugary dishes. Both of which I want to AVOID at all costs.

Yet, what other options are out there and can any of them be made in a crockpot?

Here's one idea. Meat balls. Now, I know you could buy them pre-made at the store. If you do, look at the ingredients. You want the meat to be lean meat (93% or more) and you don't want anything with added sugars...Corn Syrup, sugar, sucralose....etc. Real ingredients. They really are easy to make yourself (and less spendy on the budget).

Serving Size: 4 meatballs
Per Portions: 1/2 red, 1/2 green, 1 blue, 1/4 purple

INGREDIENTS
1-15 ounce jar pizza Marinara (no Added sugars!)
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1.5lbs Ground turkey, cooked and seasoned with 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder
16 slices turkey pepperoni finely chopped (optional)
1/2 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
1/2 green pepper, finely chopped
1/2 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
2T minced Garlic (fresh, not dried)
1 1/4c Italian Seasoned Planko (or if you can't find planko use bread crumbs)
1 egg beaten

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped pepperoni, mushrooms, green pepper, onion and garlic. Mix well.
Add Mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoned Planko and egg. Mix well.

Shape into 16 meatballs.
(at this point meatballs could be frozen for a later date)

In a lined crockpot place the Marinara sauce.
Gently add the Meatballs to the marinara sauce

Cook on low 4-6 hours.
